The claim

Hydrates, heals, fades scars, and repairs the barrier.

What the evidence says

A 2024 review found mostly small, short, manufacturer-linked studies and wound-healing data in animals; the human cosmetic evidence supports hydration and comfort, not scar repair. The filtrate is largely humectants and glycoproteins, so a pleasant hydrating texture is the honest expectation.

Who should skip it

People with shellfish or mollusk allergies should patch test; vegans by preference.

What to do instead, or as well

Any well-formulated humectant serum does the same job for less mystique.
