The claim

A natural, free contour without bronzer.

What the evidence says

It is deliberate, uneven UV damage. Sun exposure without protection raises skin cancer risk and drives the pigment and wrinkle changes the sunscreen trials prevent. Uneven application also produces patchy pigmentation that is harder to treat than a tan.

Who should skip it

Everyone; especially anyone with melasma, a history of skin cancer, or a family history of melanoma.

What to do instead, or as well

Full-face sunscreen and a bronzer.
