Check the product name

The recall names Mumtaz Herbal Kajal With Almond Oil for Sensitive Eyes and Al-Asmad Alharmain Zam Zam & Rose Water. Health Canada says both contain lead above the impurity limits in its cosmetics guidance.

The importer reported that 576 units of each product were sold in Canada from January through August 2026. The products originated in India and the United Arab Emirates and were imported by Sara Islamic Store in Mississauga, Ontario.

What to do now

Health Canada tells consumers to stop using either recalled product immediately and return it to Sara Islamic Store for a refund. The official recall linked below has the importer's current contact information.

Keep the safety finding in scope

Lead can accumulate in the body, and Health Canada emphasizes that children are especially vulnerable. The notice does not publish the laboratory value, so readers cannot calculate an individual's exposure from the recall alone.

Kohl also has deep cultural and material histories across North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. A product-specific safety action should not be turned into a claim about every modern formula or about the communities connected to the practice.
